Description
Conversion of former industrial plants (Stearns Building) dating from 1873, into 82 lofts-condominiums type units in the South-West district of Montreal. The project was complex since the building had been built in 4 phases over the centuries, which involved a significant number of brick walls to be restored inside.
In addition to the 14-foot-high brick interior walls, the original wood beams and floors have been restored to retain their historical cachet.
This reuse and restoration of structural elements, floors and walls reduced the volume of materials generated by demolition and exceeded the energy efficiency standards of the National Building Code.
