Description

Work has been underway for several months and should be completed next spring.
This energy efficiency project aims to reduce the building's operating costs and make it less polluting. Geothermal energy generally extracts heat from the ground and then circulates it, through a heat pump, in the building's hot water distribution system (radiators, ducts, etc.). The reverse process occurs in the summer, when the heat pumps reject the excess heat from the building into the ground.
The work being done at De Mortagne School is in the order of $21 million. It also includes the renovation of the school's E block, floor by floor.
